I've gone through a billion bottles this weekend and it has been FANTASTIC. <br /><br />I know I told you earlier that I was working on my dream craft room. I finally got the right lens for my camera so I will take pictures a little bit later (when it's a bit cleaner) but I wanted to share a few of the pictures we took of the craft project I did this weekend. <br /><br />I used Mod Podge to decoupage 12 dresser drawers and to glitter-ize the knobs (OF AWESOME).<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5445907058/" title="DSC_5251 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5292/5445907058_3e7570479a.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_5251" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5444740157/" title="DSC_5248 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4104/5444740157_54ac6fb4c5.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_5248" /></a><br />sparkly knobs!<br /><br />voila! I'm painting the dressers RIGHT THIS MINUTE! <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5445910404/" title="DSC_5252 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4094/5445910404_eceed94b27.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_5252" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5444716561/" title="DSC_5240 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4138/5444716561_5b34fce0e4.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_5240" /></a><br />my light switch. I love Mod Podge. <br /><br />so I'm painting the dressers a color that I'm unsure of. I might have to do a brighter color ... we will see.Sarakenobihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14649422495209702185noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794576440400690112.post-80034225185171740162011-02-08T08:06:00.000-08:002011-02-08T08:11:16.514-08:00Craft Room is CraftyI promised a month of no crafting and I almost succeeded. Both of my sons had a birthday in the month of January so I kept it to a minimum and only birthday related crafts were allowed. The boys wanted a glow-in-the-dark party, so we splatter painted sheets with neon paint and put up blacklights everywhere. It was fun, but now it's February which means I can get my craft on again. <br /><br />The first thing I am doing is taking the office and turning into *my* space. I went to IKEA and spent entirely too much money. I bought 4 <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/75305709">RAST</a> dressers, and a countertop and cupboards for storage and then I painted my previously sage green room a bright cheery pink! I can't take pictures of it because the room is so small my camera doesn't work in that room what with the zoom lens, but rest assured I'll plaster AFTER pics. <br /><br />I need the room completed two weeks from now so I can host a ladies craft day :) I'm so excited !Sarakenobihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14649422495209702185noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794576440400690112.post-15467581447835272212010-12-27T07:57:00.000-08:002010-12-27T08:01:31.766-08:00christmas presentsMike and I stayed up until 4am Christmas morning finishing everything for the spoiled rotten boys. here are all the animals we made! <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5295825162/" title="DSC_4526 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5287/5295825162_fba24a368f.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_4526" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5295227201/" title="DSC_4525 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5210/5295227201_c4c2e88ca6.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_4525" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5295818858/" title="DSC_4524 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5088/5295818858_0a713109a9.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_4524" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5295220469/" title="DSC_4523 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5285/5295220469_ee621a325c.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_4523" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5295217661/" title="DSC_4522 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5243/5295217661_0137778f6d.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_4522" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5295809828/" title="DSC_4521 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5041/5295809828_82fa021f80.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_4521" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5295208563/" title="DSC_4519 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5089/5295208563_2acf3688a0.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_4519" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5289548060/" title="DSC_4212 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5163/5289548060_db7d87224e.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_4212" /></a><br /><br />next up Batman pegs, Star Wars pegs and more gnomes!Sarakenobihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14649422495209702185noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794576440400690112.post-26915116253770834772010-12-20T06:49:00.001-08:002010-12-20T06:58:53.209-08:00Deadlines!I will just say that I have been busy! I still have a set of gnomes and a set of peg guys pending, but I *think* my SIL will be ok with them being late. I was so tired last night I just didn't have the energy to sit at the table. I didn't go to sleep, I sanded wooden animals. <br /><br />we made cookies and salt dough ornaments yesterday! so much fun with friends :)<br /><br />I wanted to share a few of the things we made this weekend with you for people's Christmas presents. <br /><br />Mike is getting so good on the skill saw! he must have cut out 20 animals for the boys yesterday. I need a dust mask to use the Dremel sanding because man was I sneezy and coughing. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5274821940/" title="DSC_4004 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5245/5274821940_a54f3a167c.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_4004" /></a><br />I drew them, Mike cut them out, I painted and finished them. I tried using a soy wax finish because I don't have any beeswax. I'm not SURE I liked it. it did absorb it though, and it's awfully soft, and my hands felt fantastically soft! They are for my friend's son who turns 1 a few days after Christmas!<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5274176677/" title="DSC_3993 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5168/5274176677_aed71790d4.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3993" /></a><br />farm animals for our friend's daughter! I used a satin varnish for it because she's not a baby and I'm sure she's past putting things in her mouth. <br /><br />I can't wait to get the peg and gnomes out today so that I can work on the animals. <br /><br />Christmas is so BUSY! but I think I'll have a small vacation over New Years!<br /><br />Also, I have a hankering to learn how to embroider. I just can't do it on youtube and tutorials! I DON'T KNOW WHY but it bothers me. I don't know if I know any embroiderererers either. and I bet I can't find a class. *sigh* I'm no perfectionist but I don't like to fail.Sarakenobihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14649422495209702185noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794576440400690112.post-5476741652707318702010-12-13T07:50:00.001-08:002010-12-13T08:27:07.904-08:00I've missed a computer so much! I just got a new lens for my camera, but it's not exactly the right one, so I can at least take pictures but they aren't as fabulous as I'd like. <br /><br />craftwise I've been up to a LOT. I had planned on making Christmas ornaments every day but we've been too frazzled to do that. i've turned the boys lose and let them do whatever they want with the craft supplies but nothing has made it to the tree. I have been working on peg people and other projects. <br /><br />The coolest thing I've been working on is with my early Christmas present. I now own a scroll saw. it's cool and everything but it's painstakingly slow and I snap a lot of blades from impatience. results are cool though. <br /><br />sorry that this is a photo dump, but I want to catch up so I can share more regularly. most of these have been taken with my camera phone. <br /><br />various taggie blankets for friends<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5258168828/" title="star wars taggie by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5128/5258168828_3193ed510c.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="star wars taggie" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5258168334/" title="pink and blue taggies by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5241/5258168334_82df009655.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="pink and blue taggies" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5257556135/" title="boy taggies by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5121/5257556135_824465e434.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="boy taggies" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5258166736/" title="gnomes by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5083/5258166736_4193870d9c.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="gnomes" /></a><br />set of peg gnomes I made for a friend's daughters. I'd show you pictures but see the above sentence. it was amazingly difficult and I am still not sure I ENJOYED IT. see, my dad started a new business recently. He and his uncle have been doing vinyl graphics for a long time and have decided to branch out. Honestly, the graphics keep them pretty busy but they've been wanting to dabble in t-shirts for awhile. My dad bought all the stuff and they had a few test runs, but they procrastinated on a HUGE order and we ended up frantically printing off 300 tshirts for the Lepanto Terrapin Derby at the beginning of October. They aren't pros at it yet and the process is complicated and takes a long time. we had about 10 screens and each time we let them develop and started to rinse them, they would "blow out" and we'd have to scrub the screens and re-prep them. Day before the sale Dad stayed up all night, and I fell asleep with the baby around 3am. The day of the Derby was fun but we were all tired. on the way out the door to sell t-shirts, I picked up my camera bag, and the camera fell out and landed on the kitchen floor. I can't afford a new lens so I have to use my camera phone from now on. I'm just as sad as you are. <br /><br />To prepare for our trip to visit my dad, I made the boys some Star Wars pegs. they aren't the best but I made them the night before (when I get all my inspiration!) the next few sets I make will be better. I have to make 2 sets for my nephews. I also need to make some gnomes and fairies for my niece. <br /><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4131/5034890457_aa1ed7161a.jpg"/><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4127/5034886353_f42488ce23.jpg"/><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/5035502580_e8a899ee41.jpg"/><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4147/5035498770_5772c8bc77.jpg"/><br /><br />I also took an idea from another blogger and had the boys (and a friend) come over and do flyswatter painting. it was a real laugh riot! of course the boys got more paint on themselves (or each other?) than on the paper, but it was SO MUCH FUN and washable :D<br /><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4130/4998108969_d944b65a9f.jpg"/><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4091/4998680082_49439d66f4.jpg"/><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4086/4997494431_aeaeb47739.jpg"/> <br />LOOK! IT IS ME!<br /><br />Also, a few weeks ago, Landon was having a really hard time sleeping so I let him stay up. I was working on some Halloween costumes, so I let him make a project. he has been begging and pleading for a Pillow Pet bumblebee so we made a bee pillow. it was all his idea. i pushed the fabric through and threaded the machine. he cut the fabric and everything else :)<br /><br /><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1101/5106321544_a808fddd12.jpg"/><br /><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1080/5105725633_e19d72c27a.jpg"/><br /><br />This month has been unbelievably busy, can you tell? I made 3 halloween costumes (and didn't take pictures because of the whole sad camera situation. but two Strawberry Shortcake costumes (WITH TUTUS OMFG) and a scarecrow costume. I also made our Halloween costumes. <br /><br /><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1139/5131409067_26226b0c15.jpg"/><br />I was the TARDIS, and Landon and Oliver were Decepticons and because Mike didn't want to feel left out (and couldn't find his Harry Potter costume, and I didn't think about being the TARDIS soon enough to get him a Doctor costume together. but it took 15 minutes to make Mike's costume from inspiration to finish! I own Halloween. The TARDIS lit up and was awesome. I had people stop me in the street to take my picture. but probably because they thought I looked like a lighthouse (or a phone booth?) and would nod and smile politely when I told them that I was the TARDIS from a show called DOCTOR WHO. (dr. who?? Exactly.)<br /><br />And what do you say? they transform? Sara you are absolutely AMAZING! people should give you awards for what an awesome mother you are! parades! with confetti cannons! <br /><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1257/5131410849_bfe6cf0b72.jpg"/><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4130/5131410411_8941399c05.jpg"/><br /><br />Landon is freaking over the moon about his costume. see! <br /><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1406/5131412519_c67a7aa8a8.jpg"/><br /><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1243/5132013258_78d9884f78.jpg"/><br />he did this for almost every single house he went to :)<br /><br />but what is this? over in Communist Oliverland, he's decided he wants to be an OLLIGATOR! I imagine a few new sets of peg guys, since I have a few tentative orders to create, and get cracking on those Christmas presents for my nephews and nieces.Sarakenobihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14649422495209702185noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794576440400690112.post-81303104661670312922010-09-19T19:19:00.000-07:002010-09-19T19:32:40.654-07:00I'm so excited! I finally opened an etsy. I've sold one thing (a custom for a friend) but I'm working on peg people. they are my new obsession and people seem to love them. there are so many better pegs online, but you know, I suppose part of the charm is the childlike quality of my crude drawing ability. the point is I'm able to at least portray someone well enough that people can generally guess who they are. I've not posted about them at all. I started out making them for our trip to Arkansas a few months back, and thought they were a riot. the boys loved them and I decided to start thinking about other ways to do them. I made some superheroes to go in the superhero headquarters, and I made bad guys, and halloween guys, and i'm working on a few other ideas. my niece received a fairy box for her birthday and apparently it's also a big hit at her house and my nephews are requesting manly pegs. I'm going to start listing them soon, maybe at the end of the week. <br />I'm so excited about them that I'm neglecting every thing else. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4969714261/" title="DSC_3390 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4104/4969714261_caf5912d85.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3390" /></a><br /><br />Here is a sample. I'm very excited to share them in the next few days. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/5003305460/" title="DSC_3854 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4154/5003305460_297238a637.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3854" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4999893253/" title="DSC_3844 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/4999893253_dbc1167436.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3844" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4994479669/" title="DSC_3485 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4085/4994479669_985c959f34.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3485" /></a><br />I heard a rumor Superman's curl is the wrong way. pretend he's looking in a mirror ok? <br /><br />I'm most excited about the ones I have planned soon. I'll keep you posted. <br /><br />in family news, the boys have discovered the joys of tempera paint. We splatter painted with squirt bottles and then we used flyswatters to paint on paper. In the process the boys colored each other. Oliver's hair is still green at the scalp. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4998067320/" title="DSC_3765 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/4998067320_005f97000b.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3765" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4998680082/" title="DSC_3831 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4091/4998680082_49439d66f4.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3831" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4997494431/" title="DSC_3778 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4086/4997494431_aeaeb47739.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3778" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4998108969/" title="DSC_3839 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4130/4998108969_d944b65a9f.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3839" /></a><br />pretty! <br />This reinforces the idea that I'm a fun and crafty mom who nurtures my kids creativity. it doesn't matter that my house is perpetually messy and could use a good mopping. fun is more important... right? The new project was somewhat spur-of-the-moment. Landon has been absolutely obsessed with the SuperHero Squad on DVD and the Marvel comics action figures he has from McDonald's. He plays with them for hours on end, staging elaborate fights and plotlines only he can follow. <br /><br />I'm so excited. I know Landon loves playing with the peg people I made a few months ago for our trip to Arkansas. We decided earlier this summer that their Christmas would be only homemade gifts from us (and we will only give homemade Christmas gifts) and I've been focusing on both boys as one singular kid because a lot of the toys will be "sharing" toys. with their birthdays 1 month after Christmas, they don't need a ton of things anyways. Landon is hoping for a new bike, and once he learns how to get on a bike without throwing it to the ground and scraping it all up, that seems like a nice present for his birthday. Oliver... is a baby and he doesn't really have preferences yet. I know Landon was a lot of guesswork at this age. He plays with super heroes and figurines like Landon and he likes cars and trucks. <br /><br />Anyways, I've really wanted to have a a few little houses and buildings for them to play with their peg people and I found a few that will work perfectly. But one I couldn't wait for and I did it this weekend. I'm glad because he can't keep his paws off it and he LOVES it so much. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4962079133/" title="DSC_3337 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4103/4962079133_5a1e46d9f9.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="DSC_3337" /></a><br />before<br /><br />After<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4962119085/" title="DSC_3345 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4089/4962119085_a13c6dece3.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="DSC_3345" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4962707102/" title="DSC_3344 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4083/4962707102_4b63cfa978.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="DSC_3344" /></a><br /><br />I didn't do as well as I hoped to, but I threw it together in one evening with items I had on hand. I mod podged "marble" and "metal" flooring and a map on the wall. I also painted some cubes gold and silver and added rhinestones for flashing lights (command center) I figured I'll make a few things of furniture and matching peg people so they are sets and hopefully the boys can share (LOL) and I'll come up with a few other gifts too. <br /><br />So after I worked on that i did work on a Christmas present:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4967171457/" title="DSC_3347 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4154/4967171457_839ee0ea4d.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="DSC_3347" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4967784356/" title="DSC_3348 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4126/4967784356_f6367d78a5.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3348" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4967789588/" title="DSC_3349 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4148/4967789588_17f1dffa24.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3349" /></a><br /><br />I'm not good at withholding gifts so hopefully I can wait. because how awesome is that???????<br /><br />I painted a barn yesterday :)<br /><br />next step up, ghetto Jedi robes. I used muslin and made a tank top and ai have some corduroy to dye dark brown. they are wearing khakis and Landon has blue rainboots. classy, no?Sarakenobihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14649422495209702185noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794576440400690112.post-85419212374810040032010-08-16T13:49:00.000-07:002010-08-16T19:32:19.491-07:00CrayonsLast week we had a huge sale on crayons (school supplies) so I bought $2 worth. normally I buy the thicker crayons because Oliver doesn't have the coordination yet to not break them, but they were cheap and I thought maybe they'd work. <br /><br />they WORK, but they are all over my house. I said I was done crafting for awhile, but now that I see these crayons just all over the place I decided to split them up and try to melt them by color family to make bigger crayons (and less!)<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4899836268/" title="DSC_3205 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4135/4899836268_0dbebeccfa.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3205" /></a><br />the boys helped me sort... SO helpful. <br /><br />because they are new crayons I soaked them in warm water for a few minutes to get the papers to come off (after struggling for a few minutes with one solitary wrapper) anytime the wrapper was resistant I tossed it back in the warm water. these are not Crayola, but a cheaper brand and they SUCKED getting the wrappers off. the few Crayola crayons we had sort of melted in the water, and the wrappers fell off after about a minute. i had to scrape the other brand off after soaking for 20 minutes. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4899279915/" title="DSC_3212 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4116/4899279915_e1925f0131.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="DSC_3212" /></a><br /><br />set the oven at 275* and checked it at 5 minutes. these crayons weren't melting and it took almost 15 minutes and it was BAM! so they may have gotten TOO melty. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4899988666/" title="DSC_3233 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4135/4899988666_639e53ab21.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3233" /></a> <br /><br />I don't know, I don't think they turned out too well, but they re still better than having those little crayons everywhere. <br /><br />I put some in a larger muffin tin (and mixed the colors) but I'm afraid that they really are going to be brown. but I don't think Oliver will care. they look cool, and kind of came out of the tin easily. I put them in the freezer ana ll but two came out. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4899382349/" title="DSC_3231 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4137/4899382349_dfc7149bfd.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3231" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4900019244/" title="DSC_3238 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4096/4900019244_20e5e9d70a.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="DSC_3238" /></a><br />I like how they look like colorful Reese's miniature peanut butter cups. Landon was disappointed he couldn't eat them. <br /><br />They will test them out tomorrow :)Sarakenobihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14649422495209702185noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794576440400690112.post-49431066262189847022010-08-16T13:35:00.000-07:002010-08-16T13:49:01.476-07:00AHOY Maties!AH! the pirate ship was far more awesome than I thought it would be! I really think I nailed it, and I'm being modest. Oh sure, it could be improved, but nothing is perfect! <br /><br />I'd just like to RAVE about Krylon plastic paint. it truly is amazing. my pirate ship is a little bit scratched up, but the cozy coupe sat for 7 days and it's seriously bonded with the original color! it's not going to get pulled off with use. AMAZING. <br /><br />What do you think? do you think I'm full of it :)<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4893668981/" title="DSC_3128 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4096/4893668981_c8c8e90a7e.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="DSC_3128" /></a><br />here it is at the Beaufort Pirate Invasion in Beaufort, NC. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4894216902/" title="DSC_3122 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4078/4894216902_a5684bbf3b.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3122" /></a><br />I used brown Krylon plastic paint (and a textured Krylon plastic shimmery black for the inside) and then a Sharpie marker to paint in the woodgrain. I am hoping to add some crafts I've already completed here, but also to keep tabs on my awesome progress in crafting. why do you want to read? because I'm awesome and you know it. <br /><br />I'm currently working on painting older plastic outdoor toys. <br /><br />our first was a Cozy Coupe. whenever I tell someone what we were doing, they'd say "what is a Cozy Coupe??" it's that little classic red/yellow plastic Flintstone car every single child has :) we have 2, both used.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4875091935/" title="DSC_3057 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4077/4875091935_da4fdf65fa.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="DSC_3057" /></a><br />Cozy Coupetastic! <br /><br />Landon wanted it to be an Optimus Prime VW.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4875167513/" title="DSC_3071 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4141/4875167513_4d01a077b2.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3071" /></a><br />next to me beloved VW!!! <br /><br />I think Oliver's will be the Batmobile! <br /><br />The coolest thing we are doing is turning the Radio Flyer plastic wagon into a pirate ship! (I can't take credit for the idea -- I saw it on Craftster and became obsessed) We are heading to a Pirate festival this week on the coast, and the boys are really getting into the pirate spirit. I'm going to make vests and striped pants this week too. anyways, it's a lot more time consuming than I thought, just trying to get the sail anchored. I put the sail on this morning and my HOURS of work with the pvc pipe were in vain. it snapped off at the base. I think maybe shortening the pipes a bit and using sisal to tie it down on four sides will help, but who knows? it's an experiment. I considered appliqueing the skull on, but thought spray paint would be more fun. I was right. I really like it :)<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4875815590/" title="DSC_3077 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4122/4875815590_f74c4da568.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3077" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4875822420/" title="DSC_3078 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4140/4875822420_37570e0994.jpg" width="334" height="500" alt="DSC_3078" /></a><br />I still need to touch up stuff and fix the PVC. the paint has to sit for 7 days but it's not going to get time to do that. i bet a sharpie will cover any red that shows up :)<br /><br />In more family news, the boys are trying their best to be as crafty as possible. I love that in Landon's head I can make anything (and sometimes he says "well, could you just BUY IT?" ) and he's starting to recognize if it means I can be crafty, there is probably something in it for him. I set up a craft room (our guest room and about the size of a closet) a few weeks ago and we spent a lot of time in it last week. we did some reptile themed crafts that were kind of fun :)<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45011248@N00/4875658140/" title="DSC_3050 by sarakenobi, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4102/4875658140_df3baa8773.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="DSC_3050" /></a><br />but don't let the baby around acrylics. they are too tasty! mmmm tastes like a clothespin alligator!Sarakenobihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14649422495209702185noreply@blogger.com0
